Please join us in honoring William "Bill" Lechlinski as our Veteran of the Month for March!
Bill served for 25 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a Maintenance/Material Control Chief, retiring as a Master Sergeant. We are grateful for Bill’s dedication and service to our country and proud to recognize him this month.

At our October meeting, we had the honor of presenting two veterans with quilts! 
One of the quilts was for the Quilt of Valor program, and we proudly presented it to Walter B. Walter served in the Vietnam War and is a resident of Chico. He was a platoon sergeant in the US Army with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry. Thank you, Walter, for your service!
 We also presented a quilt for our local Veteran of the Month program to Sonny Ventimiglia, who served 6 years in the USMC. Sonny is deeply involved in our community and currently serves as the president of the Rotary Club. Thank you for your dedication, Sonny!

Our September Veteran of the Month is Leonard Spesert. Leonard served as a medic in the Army during the Vietnam War. He is a graduate of Paradise High School and worked at Stratton's Market. Leonard is a member of the the Chico Disabled American Veteran branch.

Our July Veteran of the Month is David Saul who served in the Navy during the Korean war as the ship's photographer. David now lives in Magalia. ​

Our June Veteran of the Month is Mary Wolfe. Mary served in the Waves during WWII. Now 99 years young, Mary attended our June meeting where we presented her with a quilt.

​Our May 2024 Veteran of the Month recipient is 100 year old Harold Ramsay who served in the Air Force during WWII as a pilot instructor. Thank you for your service Harold.

We meet at the Lutheran Church which is off Skyway, across the parking lot of the Terry Ashe Recreation Center. The address is 780 Luther Dr, Paradise.

​Our Veteran of the Month for November 2024 is John Mitchell who served 5 years in the US Navy. In ad-dition to his military service, John is a member of the Clampers and is a board member of the Gold Nugget Museum.
​

We kicked off our new Veteran of the Month program at our July meeting. The first two recipiants of quilts were our own members, Becky Ray and Lynne Pillus. We are proud of our members and thank them for their service.

​January 2024 Veteran of the Month quilt was presented to ​Rolfe Rierson, is a Vietnam War veteran of the Army.  He is also a Camp Fire survivor who is rebuilding his life here.  We are thankful for his service and welcome him back home.

Our February Veteran of the Month quilt was presented to Doug Runkle. Doug was nominated by Karen Horne who also made the quilt! Doug is a Navy Veteran and has lived in Paradise for over 15 years

Our March Veteran of the Month quilt was presented to Ward Habriel. Ward was nominated by Peggy Schrader who is a member of our guild!

Community Service Information

Thank you to all guild members who donated items! Our members are awesome!

Community Service is a requirement for members. Members make items as requested by the Guild such as placemats, walker bags, pillow cases and lap quilts.  The Guild members typically jointly work together in making larger quilts.  

We are proud to recognize our February Veteran of the Month, Russell Troge, a dedicated 30 year veteran of the US Air Force. Russell's service to our country continues to shine brightly in his commitment to our local community. As an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 106 in Paradise, he has played an instrumental role in supporting fellow veterans, currently serving as the Treasurer. Thank you for your service Russell.

January 2025 Veteran of the Month
​We’re proud to honor John Babcock, a true American hero and an inspiring 95 years young!
In 1948, John served as a pilot in the Air Force and Army Air Corps, flying the iconic C-47. His service and dedication to our country are a testament to his courage and commitment.
Today, John remains an active member of the Model A Club and shares his musical talents by playing in a local band in Oroville. 🎸🚗
Thank you, John, for your service, your passion for life, and your continued contributions to our community. You are an inspiration to us all!

​We presented a quilt to our Veteran of the Month for November, Henry Freimuth. Henry served 9 years in the US Navy. He served in 3 tours to Iraq and Afghanistan where he supported the Marines. He was an Aviation Ordinance Petty Officer First Class when he was honorably discharged.

​December 2023 Veteran of the Month was Nathan Powell.  Mr. Powell spent 6 years in the Army as a Black Hawk mechanic and crew chief.  He is a current member of the DAV 106 Post.  He volunteers countless hours in his free time to help our local veterans.  The award was presented to Nathan at the December Guild meeting with his wife and children in attendance.

​November 2023 Veteran of the Month quilt was presented to Twede Danley. He has been very active in the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 106. He is a member of the Paradise Veterans Honor Guard who provide the last military honors to a veteran who has died.

October 2023 Veteran of the Month quilt was presented to Ron Lassonde at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) meeting in Paradise.

 Our April 2024 Veteran of the Month quilt was presented to Joe DiDuca. Joe is a long-time member of our community. Joe spent 4 years in the Army in the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean war.
